A STUDENT from Cricklade narrowly missed out on being made a climate ambassador for the country.

Sara Sanders, 21, of Reeds, made the final of the search to find two people to represent the nation on environment issues, but said the final tests were too tricky.

Sara was disappointed to lose out at the final stage of the international contest organised by Ben and Jerry's ice cream.

Sara, pictured, said: "The final was really hard. After the 10-hour train journey we had to cook a meal for 30 people, in a tepee.

"They told me I didn't make it because I didn't have enough experience.

"I still want to continue trying to make people think more about their environment."

Sara, who is in her final year of a geography degree at the University of Bath, said she would have had little time for her studies if made an ambassador.

"I think it would have been hard work, fitting it in with my dissertation and everything.

"And I'm going on a trip to Boston with my course, which should make up for it a bit."
